It's clear to me that the problem is all in the programing and not whether it's hardware or software.Well, after reading your post, I decided to try and make a more musical example for the fun of it, and this is the silly process / results I ended up with. I liked the feel of that vocoder, but still couldn't get sounds that fit into a mix so I opted to give hardware a try. That was what convinced me to buy a hardware vocoder. I'm assuming that's the Reason vocoder you used, given your recent Reason thread.

It would also be good to still retain some amount of clarity. The Bass Generator example is still more on the robot side of things. I want to have it more musical/instrument like and less of just a robot effect.

I like the intelligibility, but did that come at sacrificing the "musicality" of the carrier? After listening to that it's helped me put my finger on what I'm trying to do at the moment. It's clear to me that the problem is all in the programing and not whether it's hardware or software.

More body? More thickness? Less sharpness? Too intelligible/clear? Not intelligible enough?Īs you can see I just spoke rather than "sing" anything so you could get the best idea of the actual pitch change being afforded by the vocoder. Thanks for doing that sample.
